GOAL College Partners with Volleyball NSW

Kate O’Donnell, Principal of GOAL College, has announced an exciting partnership with Volleyball NSW.

Volleyball NSW is advancing participation and the love of Volleyball throughout New South Wales and leading the growth of Volleyball in Australia. They are undergoing exciting growth in programming and events across NSW and investing in opportunities that allow the sport to continue to grow extensively across all locations, formats and ages.

GOAL College is a specialist senior high school for students who are passionate about sport. Students at GOAL gain Vocational Education and Training qualifications while they complete their HSC. They also gain experience working with experts and sporting ambassadors with high-level playing experience in a wide range of sports, including AFL, Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Football (Soccer), Hockey, Netball, Rugby League and Rugby Union, and now Volleyball.

As part of the HSC, students in GOAL sporting classes also deliver free weekly sport sessions for primary school students, and they are excited to add Volleyball to the mix.

“The partnership,” Kate says, “is a perfect complement to GOAL College’s focus on developing well-rounded, skilled and empathetic young adults. It will help us train the next generation of development officers with expertise in sports administration, the behind scenes event management of sport, and expertise in the sport of Volleyball.

Kate says, “Our graduates are already making a difference as sports administrators, athletes, coaches, volunteers and caring members of their local communities. When students graduate from GOAL College, they receive more than just their HSC. They also gain valuable post-secondary qualifications that set them apart from other graduates — they definitely have a sporting chance.”

Volleyball NSW CEO Baz Wedmaier is also thrilled with the partnership and the opportunity to continue growing the sport of Volleyball.  “I am extremely excited to partner with GOAL College. Volleyball NSW is equally committed to the development of athletes, coaches, referees and administrators and this partnership allows us to help dedicated teenagers prepare for their career in one of the most dynamic and rewarding industries in Australia.”

Baz added, “Volleyball is a fully inclusive, non-contact sport allowing for all to engage and we look forward to giving GOAL College students the opportunity to experience all facets of the sport.”
