Round 3 Australian Volleyball Super League Recap
Round 3 was a tough matchup for our NSW Phoenix teams, taking on the experienced and formidable force of the Adelaide Storm.
First up was the Phoenix men against a well-rounded South Aussie team with the likes of Olympian Harry Peacock and Nathan Roberts leading their team. It was always going to be a tough battle for our Pheonix men, especially after losing current Volleyroo and Phoenix member Ethan Garrett as he left Australia this week on a professional volleyball contract. However our men stepped up to the challenge and proved they could compete with the best in Australia at times, despite this the men ultimately went down 1:4 in the match.
NSW Phoenix def by Adeliade Storm 1:4- 9:18, 14:18, 13:18, 17:18, 18:11
Next up was our women, where again it was another matchup of youth vs experience. NSW young guns took it to the Adelaide Storm women, who also boast a list of seasoned veterans, having four former and one current Australian Volleyroo members of their team. Despite the scoreline the NSW Phoenix women showed many improvements and strong performances across the board. Notable mention to Anni Tang who was a force at the net with her solid blocking against the experienced hitters from the Storm.
Phoenix Women def by Adelaide Storm 0:5 - 16:18, 15:18, 9:18, 10:18, 14:18
This week is a bye round for our Phoenix athletes with the following round being our last home round of the season vs QLD Pirates on Spetember 29th!
