Strengthening Inclusion: Volleyball NSW Launches New Indigenous Beach Volleyball Uniform

Volleyball NSW is proud to take a step in its commitment to building a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment for all by launching a new Indigenous-inspired beach volleyball uniform. The uniform was designed by Brad Hore, a proud Dunghutti man and Olympian, will feature in the upcoming NSW Beach Volleyball State Tour.

Brad represented Australia in boxing at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games and has since become a respected Indigenous artist, using his creativity to tell stories of identity, strength, and community. His design for Volleyball NSW is a vibrant reflection of Indigenous culture, resilience, and unity – values that align closely with our organisation's vision for the future of the sport.

“This painting represents the impression your identity has on yourself, your peers and those around you! It is the importance of our past athletes and what they leave for our future ones. Our kangaroo prints signify our direction forward, guiding us to bigger, better things, but also the strength it takes to fight against adversity.
Our meeting spaces are on country, on the lands of our neighbours and those far away, but together we carry our spirit and our determination wherever we go.”

The release of this uniform is more than a design update; it represents a cultural shift in how we celebrate Indigenous communities and histories across our sport. It's one part of our broader commitment to ensuring volleyball is a safe and welcoming place for all.

Volleyball NSW is entering a new strategic planning phase and is committed to ensuring transparency and support across all areas of inclusion and diversity.

“This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to listening, learning, and supporting meaningful conversations around inclusion and cultural identity in sport. We’re proud to stand alongside our communities as we work towards a more respectful and united future.”
— Rebecca Walter, Interim CEO, Volleyball NSW

The new uniform is available for PRE-ORDER NOW, with members able to place and pay for their orders until 15 July, ensuring delivery ahead of the King and Queen of the Court event on 6 September.

We’re excited to see athletes proudly wear this uniform on the sand, sharing the powerful story it represents and reminding all of us of the strength in unity, resilience, and identity.
