As of March 31, 2023, your VNSW membership will expire. The 2023 -2024 season memberships will open on March 24, 2023, to facilitate a smooth transition into the new membership season.
Competition was fierce from Day 1, with a notable shout out to the Women’s Division 2 teams having 6 out of their 8 pool play games going to 3 sets. On Day 2, teams cranked it up a notch and we had many quarters and semis also going to 3 sets. This high-level volleyball also created large crowds along the boulevard and prompted many passers-by to simply stop and catch the action.

Over the past three months, Volleyball NSW has established its place as an Elite Athlete Development deliverer through the Inaugural VNSW Beach Elite Program.
The Youth Beach Volleyball Championships culminated in a successful collaboration with the Wind and Waves Festival. The event showcased the talent of young athletes and emphasized the importance of supporting youth sports programs. The competition was intense, highlighting the dedication and hard work of all participants.

This past weekend on Manly beach aspiring athletes from across NSW came to Sydney for the Phoenix Beach Squad Camp to trial for the 2023 Youth Beach Phoenix team. The trial included two full day activities to select the best and most talented athletes to represent NSW at the Australian Youth Beach Championships (AYBVC) in March.
At the latest Holiday Camp in Ryde our Spikeroos players were surprised by a drop in from the NSW Sports Minister, Alister Henskens SC MP. They had the opportunity to have a hit together with the Minister, as he turned his hand to trying volleyball…
Over the weekend 20 beach volleyball coaches from across NSW came together for a full day of beach volleyball coach development at Sydney Academy or Sport in Narrabeen. Attendees gathered from the northern beaches, south coast, central coast, Hunter region and Canberra to share their passion for the game and learn the “Foundations of Performance” system to implement in their local environments.

On January 8th and 9th, the Youth Phoenix Beach Volleyball program hosted two Talent Identification (TID) camps at Nobby’s Beach in Newcastle. The team welcomed 60 athletes for U16-U18 and 30 athletes for U14-U15 as a part of the selection process for the 2023 Youth Beach state team selection
Over the Christmas break, Volleyball NSW has learnt of the passing of Noel Drew. Noel was a significant contributor to our sport, especially in the Schools system as a coach and administrator.
2022 was an enormous year for Volleyball in NSW. Rebounding from back to back incomplete years due to COVID, 2022 saw new programs, huge growth and impressive finishes from our Phoenix teams. The community came together better than ever before, performing at every level as a result of the commitment and dedication of our athletes and coaches.
