Selecting Teams for Youth Beach Phoenix

This past weekend on Manly beach aspiring athletes from across NSW came to Sydney for the Phoenix Beach Squad Camp to trial for the 2023 Youth Beach Phoenix team. The trial included two full day activities to select the best and most talented athletes to represent NSW at the Australian Youth Beach Championships (AYBVC) in March.

Building Foundations of Performance Across NSW

Over the weekend 20 beach volleyball coaches from across NSW came together for a full day of beach volleyball coach development at Sydney Academy or Sport in Narrabeen. Attendees gathered from the northern beaches, south coast, central coast, Hunter region and Canberra to share their passion for the game and learn the “Foundations of Performance” system to implement in their local environments.

Phoenix Rising 2022 in Review

2022 was an enormous year for Volleyball in NSW. Rebounding from back to back incomplete years due to COVID, 2022 saw new programs, huge growth and impressive finishes from our Phoenix teams. Baz Wedmaier wins Sport Administrator of the Year

Last night at the 2022 Rebel NSW Champions of Sport Awards, Volleyball NSW Chief Executive Officer, Baz Wedmaier was named Administrator of the Year. It was an inspiring evening hosted by Sport NSW providing a platform to celebrate NSW’s sporting achievements. 2022 AVL ROUND 7 - NSW PHOENIX vs CBR HEAT

Every match saw the Phoenix rise to new challenges and bring better performance on the court. The team is looking forward to rising higher in future AVL competitions.

2022 AVL ROUND 6 - NSW PHOENIX vs MEL VIPERS

For round 6 of AVL the Phoenix travelled to the central coast for the final home round of the season. Running a clinic with the local kids in the morning allowed them squad to connect with the local community before the matches against vipers.

2022 AVL ROUND 5 - NSW PHOENIX vs TAS ECHIDNAS

Round 5 of AVL started with some challenges for the NSW Phoenix with a cancellation of flight and detour via Melbourne on Saturday morning requiring the match start times be delayed. A strong team performance, and a lot of growth for the Phoenix.
