Getting the word out doesn't need to be complicated, a bit of consistency on the right platforms goes further than posting everywhere, all the time.

Facebook and Instagram cover almost every club's audience, both work across mobile and desktop, and both let you post in real time.

  • Facebook is strongest for sharing news, events, and reaching people already connected to your club. If you'd rather keep things members-only, a private Facebook Group works well for that too.
  • Instagram does the heavy lifting for visual content: photos, reels, and stories that bring match days and training to life.

VNSW has built a set of Canva templates your club can customise with your own logo and photos.

Post tiles for updates, course promotion, membership drives, and volunteer call-outs, all pre-sized for social media.

A few things to keep in mind if you want Volleyball NSW to feature or reshare your content:

  • Tag Volleyball NSW in the original post, and keep imagery clear and on-brand
  • Get photo/video consent for anyone featured: parent or guardian consent for minors, and no identifying details on content involving kids
  • Keep sponsor content clear of any conflict with Volleyball NSW's own partners
  • Volleyball NSW can't reshare everything: priority goes to content that shows off participation, achievements, and community involvement

A simple content calendar keeps your posting consistent and stops last-minute scrambling: mapping out competitions, registrations, and club milestones in advance means nothing important gets missed.

Here is an example of a template you can use to create your weekly content plan for your club:

A good club newsletter sticks to one structure: branding up top, a short welcome, key announcements, upcoming dates, club news, a member or volunteer shout-out, and a clear call to action.

Aim for something a member can skim in under two minutes.

Got a good news story? We want to hear it.

Every week, something great happens at a volleyball club somewhere in NSW: a volunteer who's given ten years to a junior program, a player who's come back from injury, a coach who's turned a struggling team around. These stories don't often make it past the sideline, and we think they should.

If your club has a story worth telling, send it our way. We'll help shape it up and share it on our socials, in our newsletter, or wherever it'll do the most good for your club and the sport.

What counts as a good news story?

You don't need a polished write-up, just the details. Some ideas to get you thinking:

  • A volunteer or committee member going above and beyond
  • A player milestone (comeback, first rep selection, long-time member, etc.)
  • A coach or official making a real difference
  • A team or club achievement (on or off the court)
  • A community moment: fundraiser, open day, partnership, inclusion initiative
  • Something that shows what your club is really about

If in doubt, send it anyway. We'd rather hear too much than miss a great story.
