Money & Funding

Chasing funding shouldn't feel like a second job. Here's where the real opportunities are, and how to actually apply for them.

Start here if you're not sure where to look. Grant funding for volleyball clubs isn't limited to one program, a few different sources are worth checking every year.

  • NSW Local Sport Grant Program: facility upgrades, $2,000–$20,000, run through NSW Office of Sport
  • ClubGRANTS: gaming revenue that licensed clubs are required to redirect into the community, often underused by smaller sporting clubs simply because nobody's asked. Apply through your local licensed club or council.
  • Many councils run free grant-writing training sessions: worth checking what's on near you before your next application
  • Funding now available for life-saving equipment (open Friday 7 August, close 7 October 2026)

Grants aren't the only lever. Two other paths worth building into your club's yearly plan:

  • Run your own fundraiser: through the Australian Sports Foundation, donations to your club can be tax-deductible for the donor, which makes asking easier. ASF is the only Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) body for sport in Australia, so it's worth setting up even before you need it.
  • Build a sponsor proposal: local businesses sponsor clubs for visibility and community goodwill, not just cash. A good proposal names exactly what they get (logo placement, social mentions, event presence) rather than asking for a donation.
    • Alternatively, you can use ClubDucks: a purpose‑built sponsorship and membership management platform that helps small businesses (especially community and sports clubs) save time, reduce admin costs, and grow revenue through streamlined processes and digital tools. More about ClubDucks.
  • Partner with local organisations: schools, councils, and other community groups often have their own funding or in-kind support to offer if you ask directly rather than waiting to be approached.
