The 2026 SVL - Promotion Day is an opportunity for the winners of Volleyball NSW endorsed Division 3 level competitions to compete in a one-day league format. The winners of this tournament will get entry into Sydney Volleyball League (SVL) Division 2 the following year.

DIVISIONS:

This event will comprise the following divisions.

• DIVISION 3 MEN (13 teams)
• DIVISION 3 WOMEN (6 teams)

REGISTRATION:

Team entry is invite only and will be coordinated with Endorsed Competition Hosts. In principle the 1st and 2nd place teams from each Division 3 competition will be invited to compete (max 14 teams per gender). If a team declines to participate Volleyball NSW has the right to invite additional participants at their own discretion.

As per the Competition Endorsement System Guide (CESG) only one team per Club / Association is eligible to be promoted during the promotion day tournament regardless of their participation and results. For example the Panther Volleyball Club may have two separate men's teams that compete in two different Division 3 endorsed competitions and ultimately qualify for the  Promotion Day tournament. If those teams finished 1st and 2nd respectively at the Promotion Day tournament the Club would only be able to promote one of their teams with the next promotion place falling to the next highest placed finisher.

Teams that already have the maximum amount of teams in 2027 SVL (2 male, 2 female) will not eligible for promotion.

FORMAT:

All Pool, Playoffs (PO), Quarters, Semis and Gold Finals will be 50 minute games + 10 minute warmup best of five. Bronze finals will be untimed best of three + 10 minute warm up.

Each team will have a minimum of three matches with the majority of teams playing 4-5 games throughout the day.

Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will be promoted to Division 2 SVL for the 2027 season.

PARTICIPANTS & RULES:

Participants MUST be at least a 2026 recreational member of Volleyball NSW.

As per the SVL Rules & Regulations (3.1), no player that participated in 2026 PLV, SVL or YSVL is permitted to participate in the Promotion Day tournament. Furthermore, as per section 7.5 High Level Athlete, any player who has played Premier or Reserve in the last 3 years (2026, 2025, 2024) is not eligible to participate in the Promotion Day tournament.

Teams must submit full team lists to Volleyball NSW no later than Tuesday 29th September. No additions will be allowed to teams after this date and submission.

Players may only play for ONE team during the tournament.

All teams are required to perform duty during the event which also includes Loser of Previous Game duty. Teams who fail to fulfil duty requirements will be fined as per the SVL Rules & Regulations.

COST:

$450 incl. GST per team

FINAL PAYMENTS WILL BE REQUIRED NO LATER THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE COMPETITION DAY.

Refund Policy

All One Day Competitions are organised and run using the State Cup Indoor Rules & Regulations and the FIVB Volleyball Rules which can be found on the Volleyball NSW website. Furthermore, all indoor volleyball events offered by VNSW are done so under the overarching policies and procedures of Volleyball Australia.
