A Big Few Weeks for Volleyball NSW: Strengthening Our Strategy,

Our Facilities, and Our Culture

It’s been a huge fortnight for Volleyball NSW, marked by meaningful progress across strategic planning, facility upkeep, and team culture. As we continue to grow the sport across the state, these moments of alignment, teamwork, and connection remind us why our organisation is so strong and where we’re heading next.

Evolving Our Strategic Plan
We recently brought our Board and staff together for a dedicated planning day focused on resetting priorities, refreshing our values, and building on the positive organisational culture we’re proud of.
This step forms part of our continued evolution of the Volleyball NSW Strategic Plan. Community feedback gathered through our recent state-wide survey is already informing updates to our key objectives and future direction.
Our next step is transparent communication and rollout of the refreshed framework, scheduled to commence in March. This will ensure our programs, partnerships, and participation initiatives continue to grow sustainably and reflect the voices of our members, clubs, and broader community.

Taking the Office on the Road: A Blacktown Working Bee
Last Thursday (12th February), the whole Volleyball NSW office hit the road for a long‑overdue working bee at Blacktown City Beach. Managing a facility of this scale requires ongoing care and maintenance, and this hands‑on day was an opportunity for the entire team, including members of our Board, to pitch in.
The result? A refreshed, functional space for aspiring athletes, coaches, and community groups. More importantly, it reinforced the power of collective effort and shared responsibility across our organisation.

Building Culture - On and Off the Court
We wrapped up the day with a little more culture-building, finishing with a friendly round of driving‑range action at Swing City. Some of us might be more naturally talented with a volleyball than a golf club… but every one of us had a great time.
For Volleyball NSW, culture isn’t confined to desks or meeting rooms. It’s how we show up for each other, how we collaborate, and how we balance 'work hard' with 'play hard.' We’re fortunate to have a dedicated team that buys into the big picture, and we’ll continue to nurture a culture that reflects our commitment.

Looking Ahead
With a dedicated team, a passionate Board, and a valued community behind us, Volleyball NSW remains focused on leading our sport nationally while sustainably growing participation and opportunities across the state. The past two weeks have been a reminder that strategy, community, and culture are all connected, and when they move forward together, great things happen.

“Our recent planning day and time together at Blacktown City Beach reminded me how special this team is. At Volleyball NSW, we aim to be courageous in how we lead, connected in how we work with our community, and committed to excellence on and off the court. I’m incredibly proud of the way our people show up for each other and for the sport.” — Rebecca Walter, CEO, Volleyball NSW

Volleyball NSW will continue to provide ongoing updates to keep our community informed about what’s happening behind the scenes, with exciting things already in motion for 2026, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on the court soon.
