Our NSW Phoenix U15 Girls Crowned Community Team of the Year

Volleyball NSW is incredibly proud to celebrate our NSW Phoenix U15 Girls, who were named Community Team of the Year at the Sport NSW Community Sport Awards, presented by Bankstown Sports Club.
“This recognition goes beyond just one team; it reflects the strength of the system and community around them” said Volleyball NSW CEO Rebecca Walter. “Our NSW Phoenix program, our coaches, and our families all play a role in creating moments like this, and we’re proud to see that acknowledged on a NSW stage.”
It is exciting to see such a young group of athletes continuing to develop and make their mark at a national level. Their journey so far has been impressive, and their potential for the future is even greater. Volleyball NSW looks forward to watching these athletes continue to grow, improve, and thrive in the years ahead as they take the next steps in their sporting careers.
This achievement is a testament not only to their performances on the sand but also to the culture, commitment, and community spirit that our NSW Phoenix program is built on. It reflects the dedication and hard work of these young athletes, while also recognising the collective support behind them - including their parents, coaches, and our entire NSW Phoenix pathways program that has helped make this success possible
The night also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the incredible contributions of other Volleyball NSW representatives who were named finalists across multiple categories. Community sport is the heartbeat of our communities, and it’s fantastic to see the incredible people and programs across NSW celebrated, with these finalists representing the strength, passion, and commitment that continues to drive volleyball in NSW forward.
The Winter Beach Series, led by Francisco Brignone (Volleyball NSW Sport Development Officer – Beach Volleyball), was recognised for its outstanding delivery and meaningful impact on our beach volleyball community. The initiative has played a vital role in driving participation and providing valuable opportunities for athletes of all levels to stay active, connected, and engaged throughout the winter months.
Individual finalists Mimmu Toh (Young Official of the Year) and Jessica Hunter (Young Coach of the Year) were also celebrated for their dedication and contributions in their respective roles within the volleyball community. Their commitment and leadership continue to make a lasting impact, helping to foster participation, support athlete development, and strengthen an inclusive and thriving volleyball culture.
To have multiple finalists recognised on such a prominent stage reflects the strength and momentum of volleyball across New South Wales. From grassroots initiatives through to emerging performance pathways, the sport continues to grow thanks to the passion and commitment of its athletes, coaches, staff, and volunteers.
Volleyball NSW extends its congratulations to all award winners and finalists, and a special acknowledgment to our NSW Phoenix U15 Girls for this outstanding achievement.
This recognition is not just a celebration of what has already been accomplished - but a sign of an incredibly bright future ahead.
