Term 1 Indoor School's Cup

Published Tue 04 Apr 2023

Coming off a successful Beach School’s Cup, Volleyball NSW dived headfirst into the indoor school season with our 1-day Volleyball School’s Cup.

Our 1-Day School Cups are all about providing young players with valuable experience in a competitive environment that focuses on participation and learning. With a modified format, this event accommodates for schools with limited resources and time to compete in multi-day events but would still want to participate in a competition and develop their skills. The shortened format also ensures more intense and competitive play, with teams having a reduced amount of game time.

As part of Volleyball NSW’s mission to increase the participation and influence of volleyball, hosting school events is a great place to start providing students with opportunities to learn and engage in the sport and build interest that will facilitate lifelong participation.
Running across the 2 days to accommodate all year groups, we saw more than 20 schools and a total of 60 teams compete to take home the Gold. We saw close games and surprise wins, with a shout-out to
St Leo’s Catholic College also made their mark by taking home the silver medal in the Year 10 Girls Division 2, a fantastic achievement for their first time participating in a School Cup.

Over two action-packed days to accomodate all year groups, more than 20 schools and a total of 60 teams competed in the tournament, with each team giving it their all to take home the Gold. We saw some thrilling games and surprise wins, with a special shoutout to Tempe and Carlingford High School for adding their Year 8 Boys to a Year 9 competition, showing their determination and sportsmanship by not backing down from older and more experienced opponents, and even making it all the way to the semi-finals!
St Leo’s Catholic College also made a splash by taking home the silver medal in the Year 10 Girls Division 2, an outstanding achievement for their first time participating in a School Cup.

Volleyball NSW congratulates all students and coaches for their outstanding efforts and looks forward to seeing familiar and new faces in Term 2! If you want to be a part of the action and experience the thrill of competitive volleyball and be a part of the action, sign up for the next School Cup HERE!
