Volleyball NSW is proud to announce the appointment of Rebecca Walter as our new Chief Executive Officer. Rebecca brings extensive experience and a deep passion for sport, perfectly aligned with our mission to grow and strengthen volleyball across New South Wales. Since stepping into the Interim CEO role in February 2025, Rebecca has been an instrumental leader, maintaining an outstanding workplace culture during a period of significant change and operational intensity.

Volleyball NSW Board President Julien Prosser reflected the Board’s excitement about the appointment:

Rebecca Walter is a former member of the Australian Senior Women’s Volleyball Team (Volleyroos), representing Australia internationally for over 14 years. Her journey from athlete to administrator has equipped her with a deep understanding of the sporting landscape, from grassroots participation to high-performance programs. Rebecca’s leadership philosophy is grounded in authenticity, integrity, and inclusivity, which are values that align closely with Volleyball NSW’s mission.

Her professional career spans key leadership roles, including National Participation Manager at Volleyball Australia, before joining Volleyball NSW as Chief Operating Officer in September 2021. Rebecca has a proven track record in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and organisational transformation. She is committed to fostering community engagement, enhancing participation opportunities, and delivering events that showcase the excitement of volleyball.

Rebecca’s leadership development has been further enriched through programs such as the Women Leaders in Sport initiative, where she undertook the Chief Executive Women’s Executive Leaders Program to refine her leadership approach and prioritise holistic wellbeing.
