Volleyball NSW Annual Coaching Symposium 2023

Published Wed 15 Mar 2023

New to this year’s annual indoor Phoenix Program Volleyball NSW are hosting our first annual Coaching Symposium.

This event will be a premier professional development opportunity for Australian coaches with a full day line-up of nationally and internationally recognised presenters.

The vision is to bring the best Volleyball information and science to our coaching community while providing coaches a platform to network and connect.

Details

  • Sunday 16th April 2023

  • 9am to 5pm

  • NRL HQ in Sydney Olympic Park

  • Catered lunch for all attendees

  • Key Note: Dave Preston, Volleyroos Head Coach

Following the steep rise in popularity of Volleyball across NSW that we have recently experienced, this symposium will be guided by the theme of “Culture”. From development to elite level ball coaches are the backbone of sport and this year we will focus on cultural opportunities by learning from some of the best experts in Australia.

Headlining the 2023 symposium will be Dave Preston, the new Senior Men’s Volleyroos Head Coach.

Dave is a Canadian coach with over 12 years of national team experience and nearly 30 years of collegiate and university volleyball. Dave will lead a compelling presentation on culture as he reinvigorates the Senior Men’s Volleyroos program leading into the 2032 Olympics.

The day will be facilitated by 2012 Olympian and Volleyball NSW Head of Pathways Martin Reader and cover many relevant cultural topics for coaches such as:

  • Injury prevention

  • Physical training

  • Sports psychology

  • Team management

  • Coach mentorship

It will include a Q&A with our professional coach panel, an interactive coaching reflection exercise and a physical session covering injury prevention for volleyball.

The event will take place at NRL HQ in Sydney Olympic Park with a catered lunch for all attendees.

This will be a powerful day for any coach interested in improving their volleyball coaching but more importantly their understanding of and ability to impact a team.

Tickets are available for purchase with an event polo or without. Please note that registrations for the Polo option will close March 24th.

We look forward to seeing you there. Spaces are limited, so sign up today!
